The u16’s travelled to Dolgellau on Wednesday the 9th of February. In the early part of the game Bro Hyddgen showed structured defence to keep out Bro Idris. When Bro Hyddgen did get into the game they kept the ball well, forwards carried well and the backs looked threatening. Bro Hyddgen took the lead after a well struck penalty by Ben Breese-Griffiths from around 35m out. He went on to kick 6/7. A try each from Elgan Jarman and Kayden Heard saw us go into half time at 17-17. In the second half Bro Idris started strongly and went 24-17 up. Bro Hyddgen rallied and through tries by Ben Breese-Griffiths and Kayden Heard (x2) pulled away to a 36-24 win. The game could have gone either way, both sides were a credit and were very organised in attack and defence. Rugby training is on every Tuesday for all year groups and the standard of the game was down to the commitment of the players to train after school on a weekly basis. We will also welcome Bro Idris for u13’s girls and boys games as well as a repeat of the u16’s game at home before the Easter holidays.
